“I just thought it was romantic, that’s all.”

Gabriel shook his head. Ever since one of Mohinder’s lab assistants had told him her boyfriend named a star after her he’d been mentioning it every five minutes. This sentimental side to him emerged every now and then, and it could be quite adorable. Still Gabriel couldn’t quite understand why a high-minded man of science could be impressed by such a tacky gesture.

Mohinder sat next to him on the couch. “I mean think about it, there’s a heavenly body out there dedicated to her.”

“Well, there’s a heavenly body right here and…”

“Please don’t finish that sentence.”

Gabriel turned Mohinder to face him, gently cupping his cheek and smiling kindly. “Mohinder, a star is just a ball of gas. By the time we see it shine, it’s already dead. And there are billions of them. Billions. There isn’t a star in the sky that is as unique, as wonderful or as beautiful as you. If I had to find a star which even came close to representing how I feel about you, it would have to be the sun itself.”

Mohinder swallowed hard. “Do you mean that?”

“I do.”

Overwhelmed,  Mohinder kissed Gabriel softly and clung to him. “Thank you. Oh, and Gabriel?”

“Yes Mohinder?”

“Could you write that down so I can brag to my lab assistant?”
